Price Hill Duo, named for a neighborhood on the west side of Cincinnati, is a violin-cello ensemble that plays original arrangements of classical works, as well as their own compositions. Passionate, distinct and authentic, the Price Hill Duo engages audiences in both casual and formal performance settings. Violinist Jordana Greenberg and cellist Laura Jekel memorize their repertoire so they can fully immerse themselves in the music. Laura and Jordana both live and work in Price Hill, where they are dedicated to the vibrant arts scene through performance, education, and community-building.
In addition to performing as a duo, Jordana and Laura are Teaching Artists at MYCincinnati, a free El Sistema-inspired youth orchestra program in Price Hill. They are also principal string players of Queen City Opera. Laura's other musical activities involve teaching a group of adult beginner musicians called the "Price Hillharmonic, and playing cello at the local grocery store. Jordana is the founder and principal songwriter of Harpeth Rising, an internationally touring chamberfolk trio of banjo, cello, violin and three-part vocal harmony. As longtime friends and former college roommates, Jordana and Laura love bringing their eclectic musical experiences together to create something imaginative and new.
Cincinnati-based cellist Laura Jekel is committed to building and empowering community through music. As Artist in Residence at the non-profit Community Development organization Price Hill Will, her work explores the overlap of the arts with housing, economic development, and community engagement. She is the founder of MYCincinnati, a free, daily El Sistema-inspired youth orchestra program. She was the director of MYCincinnati from 2011 until 2015, and is currently a Teaching Artist. Previously, Laura has performed and taught throughout Latin America and the United States, including performing as soloist with orchestras in Ecuador. She has degrees in cello performance from Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, and Carnegie Mellon University.
Jordana Greenberg is a multi-genred musician who has performed on five continents as a violinist and singer. Dubbed "one of the finest lyricists in the Americana world" (No Surf Review), Jordana is also the primary songwriter and founder of the internationally touring chamberfolk trio Harpeth Rising. She studied with Miriam Fried at both Indiana University and New England Conservatory in Boston. Jordana once won first place in her age division at a really hilly 5k race in Bedford, Indiana. She loves dogs, cooking and crocheting. A resident of of Price Hill since November 2016, she also brings her unique perspective and experience to MYCincinnati as a guest teaching artist.
